Summary

THE THERMODYNAMIC DESIGN OF AN ELECTROMAGNETICALLY DRIVEN CRYOCOOLER IS RIGIDLY COUPLED TO ITS DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR AND THEREFORE THE SYSTEM DYNAMICS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY UNDERSTOOD BEFORE DEALING WITH THE THERMODYNAMIC ASPECTS OF THE CRYOCOOLER. FOR THIS PURPOSE THE CRYOCOOLER HAS BEEN REPRESENTED BY EQUIVALENT SPRING MASS DAMPER SYSTEM AND VECTOR DIAGRAMS TO DESCRIBE DISPLACEMENTS, VOLUMES ANDPRESSURES GIVING BETTER INSIGHT INTO THE UNIT.
