Dynamic simulation of an encapsulated phase change materials store: model development and validation.

Author(s) : PAN Y., CHEN P.

Summary

The paper developed a phase change materials store model considering the water flow through the store and the separated freezing and melting within the capsule, at macro and micro levels, linking them by the heat transfer accross the capsule skin. The overall thermal transmittance between water and capsule contents was measured as well as its variation during phase change. The simple polynomial relationships are used in a store subprogram for phase change materials store model to calculate the dynamic parameters. Finally, the computer results are compared with the measured ones in order to validate the applicability of the model.
