Summary
This study deals with an economic assessment of different cascade refrigeration systems for low-temperature applications. Both one-substance systems with an intermediate-pressure vessel and two-substance systems with a cascade heat exchanger have been compared under the same conditions. It turns out that at a low evaporation pressure, CO2 is a suitable economic alternative.
