Summary

In this paper are presented the results of measurements of operating on the heat pump air/ water system used to heat the building. The building was installed at the low-temperature heater system. In the analyzed building heat pump bivalent system worked with a gas boiler. The analysis showed that the optimal cost bivalence point for such a system in the heating season 2011/2012 was -8.4°C, and in the 2013/2014 heating season amounted to -4.1°C. Nevertheless, based on operational data from both seasons, simple return on investment in the purchase of a heat pump was well over 20 years (29 and 36 years respectively), which means that in the Polish legal and economic conditions of the heat pump on the principles of the free market are not able to compete with the available gas and coal boilers.
