Summary
The effect of cryopanel arrangement on capture probability and pumping speed for cryopump has been investigated. This problem is of particular interest in the design of a cryovacuum pump. Capture probability is estimated by view factor method. 4 models of cryopanel arrangement are considered in terms of configuration of skirt direction in the cryopanel. The distance from entrance to cryopanel is also varied. The results obtained indicate that capture probability is decreased with an increase in the distance from entrance to cryopanel. It is also found that the pumping speed is strongly affected by the arrangement of the cryopanel. Proper cryopanel arrangement should be incorporated for the better pumping speed.
