Summary

The authors study the influence of two formulations on the stability of freeze-dried recombinant human alpha interferon and on the crystallization of some excipients. Formulation B, containing glycine, was the most crystalline one. It also revealed higher stability. Due to the presence of dextran, formulation A was less crystalline than B. The decrease in human alpha interferon stability could be ascribed to the formulation's high salt content.
