Summary

UNUSUALLY LARGE MANUFACTURING TOLERANCES WHEN ASSEMBLING SHELL AND TUBE HEAT EXCHANGERS CREATE HIGH ENERGETIC LOSSES. EXPERIMENTS ON A SHELL AND TUBE WATER COOLER WERE THEORETICALLY ANALYSED USING BALL'S METHOD AND THE CONCLUSIONS ARE DISCUSSED WITH THE VIEW TO IMPROVING THE DESIGN OF THESE HEAT EXCHANGERS.
