Summary

The fruits were examined at 0, 3, 6 and 9 days of storage for their appearance, organoleptic quality, physiological loss in weight (PLW), respiration rate, total soluble solids content, acidity, ascorbic acid content and disease percentage. Preharvest application of calcium nitrate at 1.0% resulted in the lowest mean PLW (5.61%) and respiration rate (64.94 mg CO2/kg.h), and maintained the firmness of fruits longer than the other calcium nitrate concentrations. Calcium nitrate at 1.0% also resulted in the highest mean TSS and ascorbic acid contents, and the lowest mean acidity value and incidence of disease after 9 days.
