Summary

THE AUTHORS REPORT THE TEST RESULTS OF THE EFFECT OF THE WEAR OF HERMETIC PISTON COMPRESSOR COMPONENTS ON VIBRATION AND SOUND CHARACTERISTICS WHEN THE COMPRESSORS ARE USED WITH R12 AND R22 IN A WIDE RANGE OF TEMPERATURES. THE AUTHORS SHOW THAT THE WEAR OF COMPONENTS IN CONTACT CORRESPONDS TO AN OPERATING TIME OF 50,000 HRS, THE GENERAL VIBRATION LEVEL INCREASES BY 4 TO 12 DECIBELS, THE GENERAL SOUND LEVEL INCREASES BY 2 TO 4 ABSOLUTE DECIBELS, AND THE MOST SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IS THAT OF OPERATION WITH R22 AT LOW TEMPERATURES.
