Summary
Refrigeration equipment, especially the reinforcement of air-conditioning equipment, is a major part of renewal in an existing building. However, the conversion of some underground pits to ice thermal storage tanks is one of the very efficient measures; energy conservation and global environmental protection can be combined in a limited space, limited time and limited budget in the existing building. There are big advantages such as the improvement in the average COP of the cooling system during the year, reduced running costs and load levelling of electric power, all achieved by introducing the ice storage system.
