Effectiveness of cold-storage door infiltration protective devices.

Summary

Tests were done in operating cold-storage facilities, in which tracer-gas-decay methods were used to measure the effectiveness of these devices under various operating conditions, including different temperatures and humidities, negative pressures, and forklift traffic. Eight different protective devices were tested, including plastic strip curtains, vertical and horizontal air curtains, fast-operating doors, and vestibule combinations. Effectiveness results ranged from -230 to 98%. The low figure resulted from the negative pressures.
