Summary

This paper reports experimental results on how a small quantity of polyvinyl ether (PVE) oil which dissolves in R410A changes its pool nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficient. The horizontal platinum wire heating method was employed to obtain the pool nucleate boiling data. Measurements were conducted for a temperature of 273.2 K and at low oil-concentrations up to about 8 mass% including pure R410A. The test liquid in a pressure cell was always kept at saturation during the boiling experiment. The present experimental results show that even a small amount of PVE oil sets back the onset of nucleate boiling considerably and causes the significant decrease in nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficient of R410A.
