Effects of various cryoprotective agents and membrane-stabilizing compounds on bull sperm membrane integrity after cooling and freezing.

Summary

The paper studies the action of various cryoprotectants, used in diluted media of bull spermatozoa (glycerol, 1,2-propanediol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, sucrose, lipid vesicles, egg yolk and bovine serum albumin). The results are compared and discussed. The membrane-stabilizing compounds of spermatozoa yield more promising results than the ice-preventing agents.
