THE AUTHOR PRESENTS AN ANALYSIS OF THE COMBINED CONVECTION-CONDUCTION HEAT TRANSFER FOR STRAIGHT FINS OF A KNOWN GEOMETRY. IT IS SHOWN, USING A RELATIVELY SIMPLE PROCEDURE, THAT THE OVERALL HEAT TRANSFER IS LESS THAN THAT CALCULATED BY CONVENTIONAL FIN THEORY. D.W.H.
