Electrical-analogy study of different types of gas-filled pulsed tubes: modelling and experience.

Etude par analogie électrique de différents types de tubes à gaz pulsé : modélisation et expérience.

Summary

The main objective of the article is to present the functioning of gas-filled pulse tubes through an electrical analogy in which voltage and the current represent the hydrodynamic parameters of pressure and mass flow rate. This modelling method was used for the design of miniature gas-filled pulse tubes running at high frequencies (20-50 hertz) and pressures higher than 2 megapascals. The compressor (rotary or linear) is of the type used in "Stirling machines" and delivers a quasi-sinusoidal pressure wave.
