Summary

This practical guide, published in the "Performances" series, presents the changes in the EMC 2004/108/EC directive, as compared to the previous directive and the updates since the publication of the previous guide. It incorporates data from tests performed on refrigeration materials and the experience of the EMC laboratory (electromagnetic compatibility) of the CETIM during the last ten years. It endeavours to cover all types of refrigeration material, from the smallest to the largest, and from the most simple to the most complex. The following points are addressed: changes in regulations brought about by directive EMC 2004/108/EC; the EMC norms relevant to the assessment of refrigeration equipment; the declaration of compliance that is to be made by manufacturers; general principles for the design of EMC and the installation of refrigeration materials; practical wiring rules.
