Electronic expansion valve, energy saving possibilities.

Détendeur électronique, possibilités d'économies d'énergie.

Type of article: Article, Case study

Summary

The new design of flow regulation makes it possible to reduce energy consumption, while allowing better regulation. This article analyses the circuits of a chilled water generator and shows how optimization of the refrigerant fluid control can improve the performance and efficiency of such a system. A chilled water generator, with air condensers, used for the industrial process, is used as an example. All the assertions are limited to this type of application, and are not transposable to other installations, as the behaviour of chilled water generators can differ from one system to another. This article initially reviews the performances of compressors, expansion valves, and evaporators. The results of this investigation are used to demonstrate energy savings. Optimized flow control is also detailed.
