Summary

Traditionally, gas companies have sold a range of industrial, specialty and chemical gases to the electronics market, focusing on supply schemes such as pipe, on-site bulk, and cylinder, together with specialized infab gas distribution and control systems. With the emergence of advanced semiconductors and much more sophisticated manufacturing processes, however, entirely new markets for products and services have been created. Accordingly, the industrial gas industry has expanded and adjusted its focus. In this article, the authors review the economic trends in the semiconductor market and how they have changed the face of the electronics gases segment for the industrial gas industry.
