Summary

THE ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE OF THESE THIN FILMS WAS INVESTIGATED BY THE LINEARIZED AUGMENTED PLANE WAVE METHOD. FOR EACH FILM, TOTAL AND LOCAL PARTIAL DENSITIES OF ELECTRONIC STATES (DES) WERE CALCULATED. REPLACEMENT OF OXYGEN ATOMS WITH FLUORINE ATOMS IN THE BARIUM-OXYGEN LAYER IN THE FILM UNIT CELL RESULTS IN AN INCREASE OF THE VALUE OF DES AT FERMI LEVEL, AND ALSO IN CHANGES IN THE SHAPE OF THE LOCAL DES FOR COPPER AND OXYGEN ATOMS.
