Summary

The strengthening of the European and Spanish regulations on HCFCs entails the reduction of emissions. The traditional system of refrigeration installation cleansing was done using substances belonging to the same chemical family of refrigerants due to their safety and solvent capacity. These refrigerants are now prohibited. Alternatives for cleansing are presented and described in terms of efficiency and safety.
