Energy and exergy analysis of combined diesel engine and absorption refrigeration unit.

Author(s) : TALBI M., AGNEW B.

Summary

The purpose of the paper is to present the energy and exergy analysis of a turbocharger diesel engine combined with an absorption refrigerator unit. The Spice program is used in the analysis of the energy values at different locations of the diesel engine and the absorption unit is analysed using a dedicated computer program. The second law is applied to perform an exergy analysis and to account for chemical and thermomechanical availabilities in the diesel engine. In addition, an exergy analysis is carried out on a single effect absorption refrigeration system with lithium bromide/water as a working fluid.
