Energy efficiency in refrigerated transport.

Summary

Body insulation, refrigeration units and air circulation can be improved. Foam insulation has marginal perspectives for improvements which are expected in the field of novel constructions such as vacuum panels. Improvements in conventional vapour compression systems as well as novel cycles are promising. Reliable and useful information about energy consumption of equipment currently available on the market is needed. A European energy labelling scheme is under development at the moment.
