Summary

In this paper we address the problem of minimizing the energy consumption of space cooling and space heating in the modern buildings during the yearly air-conditioning. In particular we will consider the saving achievable by taking advantage of simultaneous and opposite loads, using a hybrid heat pump capable to simultaneously or independently produce chilled water and hot water. We will present a real case history in Milan and a simulation in a colder climate, in Stuttgart. In both cases we will show the significant advantages of the hybrid heat pump technology in comparison with the traditional systems used for space cooling and space heating.
