Energy efficiency standards, conservation potentials and labelling of residential evaporative air-coolers in Iran.

Summary

The use of evaporative coolers is an alternative energy conservative device to mechanical compression air conditioning systems, particularly suitable to arid climate. In the last two decades evaporative coolers have regained attention because of increased concerns about energy costs and the environmental effects of vapour compression air conditioning systems. Evaporative coolers are very popular due to dry and arid climates witnessed in most parts of Iran. The paper describes the method employed for design of energy label for direct evaporative coolers manufactured in Iran. In addition, design options to increase energy efficiency and conservation potentials for reduction of energy consumption of evaporative coolers in Iran is presented.
