Summary
Traditionally, energy efficiency rating in residential air conditioners has always focused on full-load conditions. The labelling directive, a fundamental step in giving customers full information on energy efficiency, was forced to focus on standard conditions due to lack of standards for part-load efficiency. In this article some proposals on part-load efficiency evaluation are given, and benefits for variable capacity split systems are quantified.
