Energy labelling for household appliances.
L'étiquetage énergétique pour les appareils électroménagers.
Type of article: Periodical article
Summary
Recent international experience shows that energy labelling contributes to improving the energy efficiency of domestic appliances. Various implementation methods are conceivable, but comparative labelling associated with minimum performance levels seem to be the best approach. Several developing countries have adopted energy labelling for refrigerators and air conditioners that consume a lot of energy. This measure could be extended on a regional level to avoid low-performance equipment always ending up on the markets of countries without any comparable legislation.
