ENERGY UTILIZATION IN A FISH PROCESSING PLANT.

Summary

A MEASURING PROJECT AIMED AT RECORDING ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN A FISH PROCESSING PLANT SHOWED SOME PROBLEMS AT THE LEVEL OF SCREW COMPRESSORS. FULL REFRIGERATING CAPACITY IS OFTEN NOT REACHED DUE TO LEAKAGES AT THE SLIDE VANE. FOR REDUCED REFRIGERATING CAPACITIES, ENERGY CONSUMPTION IS ABNORMALLY HIGH. HOWEVER, ABOUT HALF OF THE ENERGY CAN BE RECOVERED IN OIL COOLERS. THIS HEAT MAINTAINS A FAVOURABLE TEMPERATURE AND THE QUANTITY IS RELATIVELY CONSTANT EVEN FOR REDUCED OPERATING CONDITIONS. FROM THE RESULTS OBTAINED, THE MONITORING OF COMPRESSORS AND THE CONTROL OF REFRIGERATING CAPACITY BY A COMPUTERARE RECOMMENDED.
