Summary

This study deals with carbon dioxide adsorption onto biomass based activated carbon. Highly porous activated carbon (AC) has been synthesized by KOH activation of waste palm trunk (WPT). Carbon dioxide adsorption experiment has been conducted at temperatures of 30, 50, 70ºC and pressures up to 7 MPa using magnetic suspension adsorption measurement unit. It is found that novel biomass based AC shows remarkably high adsorption uptake of CO2 at 6.9 MPa compare to commercially available activated carbon Maxsorb III. The experimental isotherms data are important for further development of CO2 based adsorption cooling systems and capturing CO2 gas.
