ENTHALPY TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS IN A MECHANICAL DRAFT COUNTERFLOW COOLING/HEATING TOWER.

Summary

COOLING TOWER AND HEATING TOWER EXPERIMENTS ARE PERFORMED FOR BOTH WATER AND A NON-FREEZING SOLUTION, USING THE SAME INDUCED-DRAFT COUNTERFLOW TOWER. DATA ON THE OVERALL ENTHALPY-TRANSFER COEFFICIENT ARE PRESENTED IN A WIDE RANGE OF FLOW RATES AND TEMPERATURES. IN THE WATER COOLING TOWER, THE COEFFICIENT APPEARS TO BE INDEPENDENT OF INLET WET-BULB TEMPERATURE. THE COEFFICIENT IN THE HEATING TOWER SHOWS A SIMILAR TREND TO THAT IN THE COOLING TOWER.
