ANALYSIS OF COOLING TOWER PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT.

Author(s) : SCALABRIN G.

Summary

A ONE-DIMENSIONAL MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF A COOLING TOWER WITH PACKING BOTH OF FILM AND SPLASH TYPE IS PRESENTED. BEING GIVEN THE CORRELATION FOR THE MASS TRANSFER COEFFICIENT THE MODEL CAN PREDICT VARIATIONS ALONG THE TOWER, OF THE AIR AND WATER CONDITIONS. A STUDY EXPOSES THE EFFECTS OF THE VARIATION OF THE HEAT LOAD, AIR MASS RATE AND PACK HEIGHT ON WATER ET. THE APPLICATION OF AN AIR/AIR HEAT EXCHANGER TO THE TOWER FOR THE CASE OF MINIMUM WATER TEMPERATURE ALLOWS TO GET A WATER TEMPERATURE LOWER THAN THE DEWPOINT TEMPERATURE OF AMBIENT AIR.
