Summary

The article discusses the objectives and the results of a worldwide study on industrial applications of heat pumps in such sectors as paper, petroleum, chemicals, agro-food and textiles. Data collected on some installations was fed into a computer program, in order to help consumers and manufacturers recognize the cases in which heat pumps can be beneficial, and to construct suitable machines.
