Evaporative cooling.

Author(s) : PICARD P., MILLET R.

Summary

Describes theoretical and practical knowledge of evaporative cooling gained from joint research by CSTB and Gaz de France. Presents a performance assessment of evaporative systems undertaken by numerical simulation for various buildings and locations. Presents implementation of indirect evaporative cooling for two operations. Discusses design issues and the potential of the technique and the difficulties of marketing (IEC) in France. States that currently the trend in France for office buildings would be to view IEC as a complementary cooling technique due to its cumbersomeness and its limited performance. Outlines future research areas based on proposals made at a 1991 IEA workshop.
