EVAPORATORS CAPACITY INCREASE BY OPTIMIZATION OF REFRIGERANT FLOW THROUGH INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS.

Author(s) : SMUTNY F.

Summary

SOME EVAPORATORS, MAINLY AIR COOLERS WITH FANS INSTALLED IN PARALLEL ROWS, ARE SUBJECTED TO A NON-UNIFORM THERMAL LOAD DUE TO THE NON-UNIFORMITY OF AIR VELOCITY PROFILES. THIS RESULTS IN A DECREASE IN REFRIGERANT FLOW RATE IN SOME ROWS. THE OPTIMUM FLOW OF THE REFRIGERANT THROUGH ALL ROWS CAN BE OBTAINED WHEN THE LENGTHS OF COILS OF INDIVIDUAL ROWS OR THE LENGTHS OF DISTRIBUTION TUBES ARE DIFFERENT, AS IT IS SHOWN MATHEMATICALLY. THE USE OF DISTRIBUTION TUBES OF DIFFERENT LENGTHS IS MORE ADVANTAGEOUS IN PRACTICE.
