Summary

Heat pumps are the centre of attention, just like 15 years ago. At many locations projects will be developed. This enthusiasm sometimes means that the necessary conditions aren't considered. Tight architectural plans and non-communicating disciplines intensify this effect. Aiming at the "eighties", the market speaks about "a second chance" for the heat pump. The authors think this situation is critical. The heat pumps available on today's market present important differences in performance and costs. Comparisons of investment costs and COP values are made for 7 water-to-water heat pumps, tested in the Netherlands. The article describes how to turn a good heat pump into a good heat pump system. Recommendations are given from field experiences during the last 2 years.
