Experiences on district cooling systems, thermal energy storage and cogeneration in Malaysia.

Author(s) : MOHAMED R., SAIRAN S.

Summary

The paper describes studies performed at TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) on matters related to district cooling systems, cogeneration and thermal energy storage. All these systems have direct implication on the supply and demand sides of electricity. TNB has adopted a marketing strategy to promote these techniques. This is shown through similar projects being implemented by the TNB group of companies as well as creation of subsidiaries to undertake such projects. The paper discusses salient features related to the utility planning and development including available incentive tariff structure for district cooling. Case studies are presented.
