Summary

The experiments were conducted on the performances of a heat exchanger and a room air-conditioner with isoenthalpy humidification finned tubes. At different ambient temperatures, the heat transfer rate was measured for the heat exchanger without spray water and the heat exchanger with the packing thickness of 50, 65, 80 and 100 mm and the spray water rate of 0.053 kg/s, respectively. The results indicate that isoenthalpy humidification increased the cooling effect of the heat exchanger, and the increase amplitude of the heat transfer rate increased with the ambient temperature. The air flow rate of the heat exchanger decreased with an increase in the thickness of packing, and the spraying water consistency determined the wetness of packing. The surface of packing with the thickness of 100- was wetted completely when spraying water rate was 0.053 kg/s. In addition, the EER of the room air conditioner with isoenthalpy humidification increased by 15.3% when the dry bulb temperature and wet bulb temperature of the outdoor air was 35 and 24°C, respectively, and the dry bulb temperature and wet bulb temperature of the indoor air was 27 and 19.5°C, respectively.
