EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF AIR INFILTRATION IN LARGE ROOMS.

METHODE DE MESURE DU RENOUVELLEMENT D'AIR DES GRANDS HALLS.

Summary

THE EXPERIMENTAL METHOD IS MAINLY BASED ON THE USE OF TRACER GAS TECHNIQUE. THE METHOD GIVES RELIABLE RESULTS CONCERNING THE AIR CHANGE RATES PRODUCED BY NATURAL OR ARTIFICIAL VENTILATION AND ALLOWS TO CLEARLY DETECT THE DISTURBANCES DUE TO OPENINGS. THE EFFECTIVE PRESSURE INSIDE THE VOLUME SEEMS TO BE A SIGNIFICANT PARAMETER. BESIDES ITS USE IN THERMAL LOSS CALCULATION, THE METHOD CAN BE APPLIED FOR DETERMINING THE OPTIMUM LOCATIONS OF AIR VENTS AND SMOKE CONTROL VENTING SYSTEMS.
