Experimental investigation of a multi-hydride thermal wave heat pump for simultaneous heating and cooling.

Author(s) : WILLERS E., GROLL M.

Summary

Seven different metal hydrides have been implemented on the high temperature side and two on the low temperature side. First experimental results with a hydrogen load of about 80% of the maximum hydrogen inventory showed the feasibility of the concept. A relatively wide cooling temperature range from -15 to -5 °C in the ice-making mode and from 0 to 10 °C in the air-conditioning mode has been achieved by a heat transfer fluid mass flow control in both loops.
