Summary

The performance of a water-cooled thermoelectric refrigerator was investigated. A thermoelectric refrigerator with a water-cooled hot side was designed and constructed. Results of tests of the system show that consumed electricity increases with operating voltage of thermoelectric module. An operating condition with maximum refrigeration output exists. The refrigerator can get to a lower temperature with a higher operating voltage. The output and COP of the refrigerator increase with the operating voltage of cold side fan, while the refrigeration temperature descends. The consumed electricity, output and COP of the refrigerator increase with a lower cooling-water temperature, while the refrigeration temperature decreases. It was confirmed that the performance of the refrigerator changes with the operating voltage of thermoelectric module and cold side fan, and with the temperature of cooling-water. These results provide foundations for the improvement of the performance of thermoelectric refrigeration system.
