Summary

Based on the high subcooled refrigeration cycle theory, the authors developed a commercial digital multiple variable refrigerant flow rate air-conditioning system and carried out experimental research on a model machine which proves to be operating under the following six modes: ice charging, ice discharging, normal refrigerating, heat charging, heat discharging and heat pump operation. The period of the ice charging operation is about 8 hours, 378 MI of cool storage capacity is achieved and the ice thickness on the outer surface of the copper tube is 35 mm; the cooling capacity increases by about 30%, the duration of ice discharging is about 8 hours; and the novel system can operate in the heat charging mode and heat discharging mode; the latter mode allows reduction in the frost formation because of a rise in the evaporating temperature.
