Experimental studies of a gas engine-driven domestic heat pump.

Summary

The project to test an advanced type of air/exhaust gas-water heat pump required the development of purpose-built engine and compressor. Both were modelled, taking into account variable speed for capacity control, and prototypes were built. New pattern heat exchangers were also required, and were designed and built. Proving tests were limited by time available, but indicated a COP double that of a gas boiler. A.R.T.
