Summary

Experimental studies were conducted of the thermoacoustic behaviour in the simulated resonance-tube refrigerator with special reference to the effect of imposed frequency and mean pressure. The resonance frequency in the case of helium was lower by about 20% than the theoretical prediction, while the experimental value in the case of air was almost the same as the theoretical one. The relationship between the temperature variation and the acoustic pressure field is presented.
