Summary

A linearized model of the acoustic characteristics in a resonance-tube refrigerator was developed while taking into account the fluid friction and the heat transfer at the wall. The resonance frequency is well predicted by introducing a correction factor on the inertance at the open end of the tube. This correlation factor was a function of the tube-configuration and the position of the stack, and was determined independently of thermophysical properties of the fluid. The amplitude and the phase of the acoustic pressure showed qualitative agreement with the experimental data.
