Summary

EXPERIMENTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON THE FORMATION OF R11 HYDRATE AND AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS OF ETHANOL (3.6 AND 10%), N-PROPANOL (0.9%) AND N-BUTANOL (1.9%). R11 HYDRATE WAS CRYSTALLIZED TO FORM A SUSPENSION AND IT WAS FOUND THAT SUPERCOOLING OF THE SOLUTION IS A DRIVING FORCE FOR THEOT THIS FORMATION IS FAIRLY SLOW AND THE PERCENTAGE CONVERSION OF R11 IS ABOUT 11% AFTER 2 HOURS. IN AQUEOUS ALCOHOL SOLUTIONS THE FORMATION OF THE HYDRATE AUGMENTS WITH A DECREASE IN THE SURFACE TENSION OF THE SOLUTION.
