EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION OF LIQUID HOLD-UP PREDICTIONS IN SMALL REFRIGERATION HEAT EXCHANGERS.

Summary

MEASUREMENTS OF THE MEAN VOID FRACTION (LIQUID HOLD-UP) OF SMALL EVAPORATING AND CONDENSING HEAT EXCHANGERS AR THE RESULTS ARE INFLUENCED BY THE EFFECT OF THE REFRIGERANT ABSORPTION INTO THE LUBRICANT, AS WELL AS BY ASSUMPTIONS CONCERNING SUBCOOLING IN THE CONDENSER. CALCULATED RESULTS OF 4 DIFFERENT KINDS OFCORRELATIONS WERE COMPARED WITH THESE DATA ASSUMING CONSTANT HEAT FLUX OVER THE PIPE IN AXIAL DIRECTION. BEST AGREEMENT IS OBTAINED BY USING TWO MASS-FLUX-DENSITY-DEPENDENT CORRELATION FUNCTIONS.
