Summary

The authors report on a fin effect of rayon fibers flocked surface, and heat transfer coefficient of a cross-fin tube heat exchanger flocked with/without those fibers. The measurement of the thermal resistance both at a flocked and a plane revealed that a ratio of the resistance at contact parts between fiber and fin surface to the resistance of conduction through the fiber layer was a few percent, it was negligible for the heat transfer. The measurement of the overall heat transfer coefficient for these exchangers revealed that the fin efficiency of the rayon fibers flocked surface that is a ratio of the heat transfer coefficient of the flocked to that of the plane was 75% at heating and 112% at condensing. The pressure loss of the air flow side was 10 Pa, it was same as the plane surface at condensing even though the condensed water existed on the flocked surface.
