Summary

A new advanced triple-effect sorption heat pump is being realised in the framework of French-German collaboration. The machine consists in a high-temperature thermochemical solid/gas cycle thermally cascaded with a double-effect liquid/gas absorption machine. A COP value of about 1.35 should be attainable from this experiment. However, the two systems are distinguishable by their different temporal operating modes. This drawback can be overcome. A pilot enables a continuous and simultaneous production of 6.5 kW of heat at 180 °C and 1.5 kW of cold at 0 °C by the use of two reactors functioning alternatively in opposite phase. The heat of synthesis which is extracted from the reactors by a high efficient water heat pipe will later enable direct thermal coupling with the double-effect absorption machine which has been constructed in Munich. Experimental results are presented.
