CONSIDERING THAT TRADITIONAL FISHING IS CLOSE TO ITS SATURATION POINT, AQUACULTURE HAS FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS IN HAND WHICH ARE ABLE TO SATISFY MARKET REQUIREMENTS. THE DIFFERENT TRADING CHANNELS AND EXPLOITATION METHODS ARE MENTIONED. THE MOST RECENT PRESERVATION TECHNIQUES AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF DEVELOPING NEW TRADING SYSTEMS ARE REPORTED, WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON TROUT. THE PRESENT ITALIAN CONSUMPTION OF AQUACULTURE PRODUCTS IS REPORTED.
