MONOGRAPHIC DESCRIPTION OF THE COLD STORE OF THE CHAMBRE D'AGRICULTURE DE L'YONNE, MIGENNES, FRANCE, BUILT IN FOUR SUCCESSIVE STAGES BETWEEN 1964 AND 1986, TYPICALLY ILLUSTRATES THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DESIGN OF STORES AT THAT TIME. THE INCREASE IN THE HEIGHT (5 TO 22 M) OF COLD ROOMS AND THEIR UNITARY VOLUME, MAINLY MECHANIZED HANDLING, ARE STRESSED. THE THIRD STAGE, AS EARLY AS 1975, CONSTITUTED THE FIRST FULLY AUTOMATIC FRENCH COLD STORE, WITH A BUILT-IN FREEZING UNNL THE FOURTH STAGE, IN 1986, CONFIRMS THE RELIABILITY OF AUTOMATION AND PURSUES COMPUTERIZED MANAGEMENT.
