Planning an automated tall-shelf storage and distribution center for frozen food.
[In German. / En allemand.]
Author(s) : FLETTNER G.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The author describes in detail the planning of the cold store, which has a 15,000-pallet capacity. Special attention was paid to three planning factors: refrigeration, logistics and construction techniques. Automation resulted in at least 30% more pallet space than in similar-sized conventional stores. Other important features: steel shelves, one wire-drawn lift truck per aisle and special stock management. The author describes the functioning of the cold store, the software that helps run it, the construction-phase planning and commissioning.
